Wiley Drayton O'Shields

Wiley Drayton O'Shields Born 1832 and died 1882. He was born in walnut grove Spartanburg County S.C . He lived on the O'Shields Plantation 272 acres of land. He was only 50 years old at his death. Mr. O'Shields played in the O'Shields String Band. Wiley Drayton O'Shields was married to Julia Smith. He was the daddy of W.G.S. O'Shields. Mr. O'Shields was a farmer and he loved people. His mothers name was Nancy Ann O'Shields. His mother was born in Spartanburg County S.C. in the year 1804' August 17. Wiley Drayton O'Shields Was my great grandaddy. As you young researchers read this i sure hope that you get a clear picture of this O'Shields family. As in a lot of families if you do very much research then you will see things that you don't like. But as you keep going on down history road you will see so much more that you do like. So just stay with me as i bring out this history about this family with the truth which i'am sure that is what most of us want. Wiley Drayton O'Shields enlisted in the confederate army when he was 31 years of age. At the time' it was the year 1861' on December 29. He was discharged from service on April 5' 1862. Because of his medical discharge. Wiley Drayton O'Shields owned lot's of land. He was a man that would buy land and sell land that he owned on Blackstock road. Mr. O'Shields owned several hundred acres of land. The more that i have learned the more i enjoy doing what i'am doing. Wiley Drayton O'Shields was married to Julia Smith in 1851. She was the daughter of Enoch and Abigail Elder Smith. Yes this is history in the making. Let me name all the children that were born in their home. James Monroe O'Shields' son' born June 12' 1852; Franklin M. O'Shields' son' born September 7' 1853; Robert Belton O'Shields' son' born September 8' 1855; Enoch Thomas O'Shields' son' born January 6' 1858; Giddeon Henry O'Shields' son' born January 30th 1859 and died as an infant on April 7th 1859. Henry Westel O'Shields' son' born May 8th' 1860. And Wiley George Simpson O'Shields' son' born April 6th 1863. This is the list of the children of Wiley Drayton O'Shields and Julia Smith O'Shields. There's so much to tell about great grandaddy i know that i can't ever tell it all. But i want to put a lot of this down for my children and grandchildren and for the young researchers out there that are doing research on the O'Shields. This is why that i hope to do this with the help of God. And i hope that this will help you as i have researched this and i have been doing this for a long time.
