NANCY O'SHIELDS
Let's start with Nancy O'Shields. In hopes that we can clear up some things that need to be cleared up. It seems that we hit a brick wall when we get to Wiley Drayton O'Shields. It seems that we do not know much about his mother or his daddy. I'am only doing this to try to help those that are doing research. A lot of the records got lost back then. So i said to myself' i'am going to write to Annie Myrtle Wilson a letter. You may wonder who is Annie Myrtle Wilson/ She is my first cousin. Anyway i wrote her and she wrote me back. Now Annie Wilson lived in the house of W.G.S. O'Shields along with her mother Aunt Myrtle. By being in this house she would hear a lot of things about the O'Shields. W.G.S. O'Shields was the youngest son of Wiley Drayton O'Shields If anyone should have known about his daddy then W.G.S. O'Shields should have known. He also knew about his grandmother and he sure knew who she was. Mr. O'Shields knew her name was Nancy O'Shields and he also wrote lot's of things down in the family Bible. But this was something that they just did not go around talking about. The O'Shields are very proud people. Annie has been knowing all her life about Nancy O'Shields the mother of Wiley Drayton O'Shields. So Annie Wilson told me all about this that she has kepl all these years. She told me Charles' i want to help you. Maybe i can shed some light on what happened. Yes Charles' Nancy O'Shields was the mother of Wiley Drayton O'Shields. Nancy worked for a Dr. John Smith. They were good friends. Dr. John Smith changed his name to Dr. John Winn-- Smith why/ We have record that Nancy O'Shields was born an O'Shields August 17' 1804. I will name all of her children as i have them. William Paschal O'Shields born 1824' Samuel Drayton O'Shields born 1825' Wiley Drayton O'Shields born 1832' Polly Ann O'Shields born 1833' Isaac Scott O'Shields born 1834 or 1835. I'am going to tell you this about Nancy O'Shields she was a nurse and she helped those that needed help. I will tell you this from W.G.S. O'Shields my grandaddy to Wiley Drayton O'Shields great grandaddy and great-great grandmother Nancy O'Shields they were all good people. I thank God that i'am part of the O'Shields family as i have done my research and have been told how that great --great grandmother was a christian i have to praise God. I really do thank God for everything He is so good to us all. All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God. Please lets look a little more about Nancy O'Shields she got her life together. Nancy loved to help anyone her first grandchild loved to go with his grandmother as she went about helping others. His name was J.M. Monroe O'Shields and he became a veterinarian. Annie Wilson told me that he would stay at W.G.S. O'Shields when he had to deliver a calf or colt. Nancy O'Shields rasied her family on the O'Shields Plantation 272 acres of land.
